One of the first things people will often notice upon entering your home or business are the surfaces. If your travertine surfaces have become faded from scratches, dirt or exposure to the elements, Tile Cleaners® technicians can professionally restore the natural beauty of your travertine floors.
We know travertine and we understand and appreciate its characteristics. St Ives Chase's Tile Cleaners® restore travertine floors, walls, countertops, vanities and shower areas. Our passion for what we do and our strong commitment to educate our customers on proper care and maintenance is evident with every job.
Travertine flooring is a very stylish material that is functional and aesthetically attractive while bringing a very appealing, old-world character to any home or business. Travertine will often appear fibrous or concentric and can come in a white, tan or a cream like colour. When polished the natural appearance of travertine is enhanced, making the stones qualities more noticeable.
Certain varieties of travertine, a typically soft stone, are harder than others, but essentially travertine will unfortunately scratch, etch and lose its shine and luster without proper maintenance.

Regular Travertine Care
Travertine is one of the most beautiful surfaces available in the home or office. However, being a fairly soft stone it can easily become scratched in areas of high foot traffic. A regular maintenance program is vital if travertine is to retain its original beauty.
Special care is required when cleaning travertine. Travertine should be sealed with a high quality penetrating impregnating sealer. Australia's Deepshield® range of sealers are based on the latest nano-technology, and cure deep inside the pores of the travertine leaving an invisible protective barrier that results in maintenance becoming much easier. Unsealed or weakly sealed travertine will soak up oils, spills, and stains. To check whether your travertine is sealed, leave a few drops of water on the surface. If after a few minutes the water has soaked into the travertine, then it's time to reseal the stone.
Spills should be cleaned immediately. You should generally use only warm water and a mild detergent on your travertine floors and never use vinegar on travertine. The acid in vinegar can seriously damage and actually etch and remove the surface of travertine. After mopping, dry the floor with a cotton towel or use a sh-mop to remove the moisture and prevent water spots. Always dry your travertine floors as they spot very easily.
