Testimonials

I noticed that some of the tiles in my bathroom walls were loose and the grout was coming off. I am a very busy so kept on postponing calling someone to fix it. One day I got home and the loose tiles were lying broken on the floor. Can you imagine my frustration? I rang my brother in panic and he gave me Tile Cleaners' contact details. I rang them straight away. The guys told me I needed a tiler and professional regrouting work done so I thought it would take ages to fix my problem. However they organized the work very well. I had my tiles fixed on Friday night the same week and the entire bathroom regrouted on Saturday. Thank you some much for your quick help; it was such a relief.

I was about to sell my business and wanted to clean and reseal my vinyl floors to improve the looks of them before having people over for inspection of the property. I did a booking with another company but was horrified when I realized that my floor was back to its horrible look in less than two weeks. I carefully looked up other cleaning companies, scared that I would chose the wrong cleaning company. A friend of mine recommended Tile Cleaners, but after what happened to my floor last time I got it cleaned I was really skeptic, but gave it a go. All I can say is thank you guys so much for a quick response and a good job. I sold the office and left your contact details with the new owner for future cleaning.

I was about to sell my house, but was not happy with the tiles in the dining area. The tiles were white and shiny but the grout looked really dark and dirty. I already had a potential client; however the dark grout ruined the beauty of the room. I didn't have much time to fix the grout and decided to call Tile Cleaners as my real estate agency mentioned them. As my real estate agent said, Tile cleaners responded really quickly. They also pointed out that some of the grout was coming off in the hallway when they were there, which I had not even noticed. Thank you for fixing my problem so quickly. The house is sold now and I left your details with the new owner so they can keep the tiles in good condition.

Spills and Stains

If you have a potential stain, blot the spill with a paper towel or cloth immediately. Don't wipe the area as it may spread the spill. Flush the area with plain water and a mild soap and rinse several times. DO NOT APPLY VINEGAR OR ACIDIC CLEANING MATERIALS. Dry the area thoroughly with a soft cloth and repeat as often necessary. If the stain remains, call Tile Cleaners®, our experienced technicians have the training and solution to care for your stone.

Stain Removal

Identifying the type of stain on the stone surface is the key to removing it. If you don't know what caused the stain, it is important to try to find out, play detective, where is the stain located? Is it near a plant, a food service area, an area where cosmetics are used? What colour is it? What is the shape or pattern? What goes on in the area around the stain? Surface stains can often be removed by cleaning with an appropriate stone cleaning product or household chemical. Deep-seated or stubborn stains may require using a poultice or calling in a professional.

Types of Stain

The following section describe the type of stains that you may have to help identify appropriate household chemicals to use and how to prepare and apply a poultice to remove the stain if necessary.

Classification of stone stains

  • OIL-BASED(grease, tar, cooking oil, milk, cosmetics)
  • ORGANIC (coffee, tea, fruit, tobacco, paper, food, urine, leaves, bark, bird droppings)
  • METAL(iron, rust, copper, bronze)
  • BIOLOGICAL(algae, mildew, lichens, moss, fungi)
  • INK(magic marker, pen, ink)
  • PAINT
  • WATER SPOTS AND RINGS(surface accumulation of hard water)
  • FIRE AND SMOKE DAMAGE
  • ETCH MARKS(Etch marks are caused by acids left on the surface of the stone)

Poultices

A poultice is a liquid cleaner or chemical mixed with a white absorbent material to form a paste about the consistency of peanut butter. The poultice is kept moist and covered to allow time(up to 48 hours) for the liquid cleaner to sufficiently penetrate the stone and dissolve the staining material. The liquid cleaner or chemical will draw out the stain into the absorbent material. Poultice procedures may have to be repeated to thoroughly remove a stain, but some stains may never be completely removed.

The majority the removers used are for removing rust and stains, additionally, there are products that can be applied to efflorescence, water scale, decoloration, oil, silicone, and coking.

As ever, prevention is better than cure!

Stone Sealing

Sealing your stone tiles and/or grout helps prevent & reduce staining by providing a barrier against stain carrying substances. Sealing is the first important step towards protecting your investment against stains.

A sealer is a liquid, or carrier containing a resin that is applied to porous natural stone or porous man made surfaces such as concrete and ceramic tiles that helps prevent staining from water and/or oil based materials as well as help to achieve better results when cleaning your tiles.

You can easily test how porous your surfaces are by applying a drop of water to the surface and watching how it is absorbed. You can then see how any type of water based stain can be absorbed by the surface.

deepshield breathe

Tile Cleaners® use two main types of sealer to protect your surfaces. One sealer is known as an Impregnating Sealer(Penetrating Sealer) which is absorbed into the tile protecting it from within and the other is known as a Topical Sealer which sits on top of(coats) the tile.

deepshield surface

Tile Cleaners® are proud to be accredited applicators of Deepshield™ quality deep impregnating water based sealers which prolong the life of your surfaces by taking full advantage of recent advancements in nano-technology and fluoro-bond technology. Australian made Deepshield™ forms a bond with your surfaces that is stronger than any conventional mechanical or hydrogen bonding film forming sealers.
