We got our tiles more than 25 years ago. We were told that we had a solvent sealer on our tiles, which apparently most companies wouldn't be able to strip off. I noticed that some of the tiles in my bathroom walls were loose and the grout was coming off. I am a very busy so kept on postponing calling someone to fix it. One day I got home and the loose tiles were lying broken on the floor. Can you imagine my frustration? I rang my brother in panic and he gave me Tile Cleaners' contact details. Marble is one of the most beautiful surfaces available in the home or office. However, being a fairly soft stone it can easily become scratched in areas of high foot traffic. A regular maintenance program is vital if marble is to retain its original beauty, achieved in a factory by grinding the stone to a mirror finish.
Special care is required when cleaning marble. Marble should be sealed with a high quality penetrating impregnating sealer such as Deepshield® Gold, based on the latest fluoro-bond technology, which cures deep inside the pores of the stone leaving an invisible protective barrier that will result in maintenance becoming much easier. Unsealed or weakly sealed marble will soak up oils, spills, and stains. To check whether your marble is sealed, leave a few drops of water on the surface. If after a few minutes the water has soaked into the marble, then it's time to reseal the stone.
Spills should be cleaned immediately. You should generally use only warm water and a mild detergent on your marble floors and never use vinegar on marble. The acid in vinegar can seriously damage and actually etch and remove the surface of marble. After mopping, dry the floor with a cotton towel or use a sh-mop to remove the moisture and prevent water spots. Always dry your marble floors as they spot very easily.
