Testimonials

Thank you Tile Cleaners ® for dealing with the solvent sealer I had and resealing my hallway; I know it's a pain but you did a great job. I will definitely call you again as I need help with my tiles in the office.

Paul Gold, Gold Coast, QLD

I noticed that some of the tiles in my bathroom walls were loose and the grout was coming off. I am a very busy so kept on postponing calling someone to fix it. One day I got home and the loose tiles were lying broken on the floor. Can you imagine my frustration? I rang my brother in panic and he gave me Tile Cleaners' contact details. I rang them straight away. The guys told me I needed a tiler and professional regrouting work done so I thought it would take ages to fix my problem. However they organized the work very well. I had my tiles fixed on Friday night the same week and the entire bathroom regrouted on Saturday. Thank you some much for your quick help; it was such a relief.

Kerry McMyre, Mosman, NSW

I have several different freshly laid tiles in my new house. All pathways have stone tiles and there are marble tiles in the bathrooms and porcelain in the kitchen. I needed to get them sealed and was not sure if it was possible to seal them all. I contacted Tile Cleaners because my dad recommended them. He had a similar situation in his house and was very happy with the job Tile Cleaners had done. I was very worried about my tiles since they were brand new and very expensive. Tile Cleaners team were very patient with me, explaining how they were going to apply the sealer on different types of tiles, what sealer they would use, how long it would last for and advised me on how to take care of my tiles. I called Tile Cleaners a few times confirming details, asking for prices, making sure they could to the job during the weekend etc. The guys were amazingly patient and helpful. When I had gathered all the information I wanted, I was ready to go ahead. The work done by Tile Cleaners actually took less time than what it took me looking for information about it. Sorry for the pain I caused, and again thank you.

How To Make Stone Floors Shiny

The first question we need to ask when talking about making stone floors shine, is "why does stone shine?"

When light hits uneven stone, it scatters. But if the stone is even, the light bounces off the surface, and that makes it shine. Think of is this way, imagine yourself on a boat on rough waters (uneven stone). If you look over the side of the boat you can't see your reflection. But if you look over the side of the boat with calm water (even stone), then you can see your reflection. That's because the light is bouncing off the water the same way it bounces off an even stone floor.

Marble Tile Cleaning

So how do you make stone floors shine

  1. Add a coating or finish. Although coatings or finishes add gloss to stone floors, this is not a recommended way to add shine to granite or marble floors. Natural stone needs to breathe, and adding coatings or finishes blocks the floor from breathing. Travertine or Terrazzo floors are better suited to adding a coating or finish.
  2. Polishing. Polishing stone floors using diamond pads on your slow speed floor machine will add a highly reflective gloss to stone floors. Polishing should only be done by experienced stone floor technicians. At Tile Cleaners ® we have years of experience in Polishing all types of stone floor and wall tiles, including Marble, Sandstone, Limestone, Travertine, Flagstone and Granite stone tiles.
  3. Polished Travertine Stone Tile Floor Sealing
  4. Honing. Honing is a more aggressive procedure that smoothes the stone by using a more abrasive diamond disk that grinds imperfections on the floor surface. Honing should only be done by experienced stone floor technicians. At Tile Cleaners ® we have years of experience in Honing all types of stone floor and wall tiles, including Marble, Sandstone, Limestone, Travertine, Flagstone and Granite stone tiles.
  5. Polished Travertine Stone Tile Floor Kitchen & Dining Sealed
  6. Grinding. Grinding is the most aggressive way to add shine to stone floors. This procedure will take care of lippage (uneven tiles). Grinding should only be done by experienced stone floor technicians. At Tile Cleaners ® we have years of experience in Grinding all types of stone floor and wall tiles, including Marble, Sandstone, Limestone, Travertine, Flagstone and Granite stone tiles.
  7. Crystallization. Crystallization is a chemical polishing process that is used in heavy traffic areas. In this situation you would use a crystallizer polish to add shine to the floor.
The best way to keeping stone floors shiny is by maintaining them regularly by vacuuming and mopping to keep dirt and grit off the floor. This will not only keep you from having to perform more aggressive stone floor services too often, but will save your customers money in the long run.
