I noticed that some of the tiles in my bathroom walls were loose and the grout was coming off. I am a very busy so kept on postponing calling someone to fix it. One day I got home and the loose tiles were lying broken on the floor. Can you imagine my frustration? I rang my brother in panic and he gave me Tile Cleaners' contact details. I rang them straight away. The guys told me I needed a tiler and professional regrouting work done so I thought it would take ages to fix my problem. However they organized the work very well. We got our tiles more than 25 years ago. We were told that we had a solvent sealer on our tiles, which apparently most companies wouldn't be able to strip off. I have several different freshly laid tiles in my new house. All pathways have stone tiles and there are marble tiles in the bathrooms and porcelain in the kitchen. Honed: The surface of the tile is sanded to create a matte finish.
Tumbled: Tiles are tumbled with gravel and bearings, giving them a rough, aged appearance.
Brushed: A wire brush is used to give the surface of the tiles a worn, textured surface.
Filled: The pores in the tiles are filled with colored resin or cement to produce a solid surface.
Polished: The tiles are sanded and polished, producing a shiny look. This is not recommended around swimming pools as it can be slippery when wet.
Different cleaning and maintenance instructions and methods should be used on pool pavers depending on its type and finish and also on wether it's sealed or left in its natural state. In General, natural stone pavers should be cleaned and maintained with non acidic products, and it is recommended to get them professionally cleaned every few years to help make them last longer and bring up the fresh look after the tiles start to look tired daily use. Natural stone pavers should always be sealed using impregnating penetrating waterbased sealers.
